The East Coast Bays is a string of small suburbs along the Easten Coastline of the North Shore. The suburbs stretch from Castor Bay to Long Bay in the North. The beaches that can be found along the coast line are spectacular and a short drive from any house hold. Notable parks/walks include Jf Kennedy Memorial Park, Crowns Nest Rise walk, Sherwood Reserve and Long Bay Park.
If you are looking to get out to grab some food, there are many options to choose from. If you are going out for a meal and into Japanese cuisine you could try Raman Takara or Yaruki, both are in Browns Bay. If you are just trying to find a decent café, give Fact-Tree Café (Sunnynook) or the paper Moon Café & Bar in Mairangi Bay a go.
Great schools are not in short demand along the Bays. You have a choice of either Long Bay College or Rangitito College and towards the south of the Bays you have Westlake college for the older kids. There are many other top Primary Schools including Campbells Bay Primary, Murrays Bay Primary and Sherwood Primary.
The eastern coast of the North Shore became popular very early with Maori due to the richness of food and other resources available on the land, in freshwater streams like the Okura River and in the Hauraki Gulf. The earliest evidence of Maori occupation dates from about the 15th century and at places like Long Bay, there is archaeological evidence that demonstrates continuing occupation and use of the area at least until the time of European contact and settlement.
